Everytime summer starts to approach, all of the fashion magazines declare it the low-maintenance season of the year. It just seems like New York is exempt from anything low-maintenance doesn't it? I don't see myself wandering around with one coat of mascara and some pink lipgloss on any given day.
But that all changed when I was in the Caribbean. Life is so laid back in Punta Cana. The days were spent on the beach until we changed for dinner which was usually in an open-air restaurant. It took me until I got home for my hair to feel clean from the salt water and sand.
It was interesting for me to see which products I wound up using in such a different environment from my norm.
For my face I wound up sticking with the basics. My Clarisonic wound up dying a week into the trip so I really wanted to keep my face as clean as possible. I only used Argan Oil light for my face with my Too Faced Beauty Balm over it. This BB cream is the holy grail for my skin. It smooths my flaws and makes me luminous without feeling heavy. I can never be without my Voluminous Mascara and this trip was no exception.
At night I washed with St. Ives Blemish Control Green Tea Face Wash. This did a great job of cleaning my face from all the sunblock I used during the day. These Almay Makeup Remover wipes are oil-free and took my mascara off without any irritation. I'm convinced they kept my lashes so moisturized that they grew longer while I was away!
Like I said earlier,I struggled with my hair while I was gone. I couldn't get it clean and it contantly felt stripped and dry. I switched the Morronanoil Shampoo and paired it with my beloved deep conditioner, Macadamia Nut Deep Conditioner. Talk about the ultimate test. Even in these harsh conditions this stuff made my hair soft and silky. I have never found a better product for my hair. Like ever.
I loved being away and with island living life is definitely easy. Maybe someday I can bring some of that back to New York, but until then, I will just use all of my favorite products instead.
