I recently posted one of my favorite outfits from this winter on Instagram. (have you followed me yet?) It was uncharacteristically cold here in NY and that called for layers... and more layers. If there is one thing I cannot stand, it's being cold. I will suffer in the name of fashion, but I just can't be cold.
That JCrew Factory plaid shirt is one of my all-time favorites. In fashion I have a bad habit of being a dollar short and a day late. I often find myself wanting things that are sold out, or that are sold out in my size. I like to wait for sales which sometimes doesn't work out. Much like with this JCrew shirt. So do you know where I got it? Ebay.
When you know what you are looking for very specifically, you can often find it on ebay. Many times things are listed NWT (new with tags) and you're getting a brand new item, at a much cheaper price.
Check out ebay and I bet you will be pleasantly surprised. Some key things to look for and to remember:
- Always check for feedback. Make sure the person you are buying from has good ratings and read some reviews.
- Smoke-free home. You don't want your item showing up smelling like an ashtray.
- Read the description and look for why they are selling the item. Sometimes sellers will give a reason.
If the idea of buying something on ebay makes you cringe, these are a few other options as well.
