The last few weeks have been brutally cold here in the Northeast. We've seen one of the coldest February's we have ever seen in our history. When it gets this cold, my beauty routine goes into survival mode. This weather can wreak havoc on my hair and skin and I try to be proactive in protecting it from the elements. There are certain products I find myself going back to whenever my skin has a little bit of a meltdown. I look for products that have super rich and moisturizing qualities. In some cases, there can be fall out with too much moisture, but I still think it's better than the alternative. |
Piping Rock is one of my favorite places to get my hands on various essential oils for my face. Their Argan Oil is amazing, and I also love their Vitamin C serum as well. When used together, these helps to hydrate and brighten my skin in the most beautiful ways. I've also used a few different oils for my hair as well and I've loved them all. Grape Seed oil, Jojoba oil, and Almond oil were some of my favorites, but their Argan Oil works amazingly well on my hair as well as my skin, and that is the one I pick up most often. They also have oils that can be used for aromatherapy and scalp massage. I pour various scents like cinnamon and vanilla in my humidifier and they bring a lovely scent to my bedroom. Massaging the scalp with oil during the winter is a great way to keep those pesky itches away. |
Below are some of my all-time favorite winter-proof beauty products. You can click on the picture for more information.
Redken All Soft is an award-winning shampoo and conditioner that does a great job of keeping hair soft and tangle free. In addition to this, the SheaMoisture Restore Styling lotion makes my hair glossy and smooth. It can easily weigh hair down though, but it's a fair trade when dealing with the severe cold and dry air. I'm a big fan of Josie Maran products and the light argan oil along with the Whipped Argan Oil body butter are two of my favorites. All moisturizers penetrate the skin more deeply after using my Clarisonic. This Oil of Olay moisturizer brightens my skin better than anything else I've tried, even in the midst of a cold winter day. My Tarte cheek stain is a gel blush so it helps add a dewy finish rather than powder that can leave my face looking flat. This Arbonne Lip Saver is THE best chapstick I have ever tried, and based on the company's reputation, it makes me feel like I'm not putting anything toxic near my mouth and lips.
